May 27: Week 33

We did a fun activity as a zone this Friday where we set up a booth at a busy park and contacted a lot of people. Our main focus was to teach about the Book of Mormon and hand them out to as many people as possible who were interested. With the help of about 12 missionaries, we contacted hundreds of people and have tons of references to work with. A lot of people explained to us that this will change the hearts of many strangers when they look at us doing service work and helping them with a spiritual message. I was able to talk to some people for a long time, and really explained the purpose of the Book of Mormon. I'm surprised at how people don't a lot of knowledge of this gospel, and especially a knowledge of the Book of Mormon and the blessings it has when we just open it up. I know I definitely took that for granted before my mission as my Book of Mormon usually sat on my dresser with dust on top. But there is so much happiness that we can find by reading it and by pondering its message.

Again this week, we did a lot of contacting, mainly because the sector we're in doesn't have much. I am not the biggest fan of contacting, especially when we do it for more than 5 hours a day. But this week I really focused on smiling at every person when they opened up the door and treating them like Jesus would if he were sharing this message. I was able to see a tremendous difference in the message we portrayed and the difference in the hearts of the people when we did so.

The scripture for this week is in Matthew 11:28-30.

28 ¶ Come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

30 For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.

As I read this scripture this week I was touched by the message it portrays. I love the way Jesus explains and words these short scriptures that he invites all who are heavy worked with all our work, problems, addictions and he will give us rest because he is gentle and his love is everlasting.
